Everyone needs to understand that it's all as planned - the entire money system and political system is designed to keep you enslaved and running on the wheel all day every day with a few drips of leisure to make you think it's all fine. Boomers, millenials, all generations are under the same enslavement called usury - there's never enough money in the economy so it keeps the plebs scraping and fighting. Inflation is a tale they tell to keep us stupid. Once you know though there is no going back.
As Dave Ramsey says , “act your wage” like you mention, inflation affects all of us no matter what and the best you can do is try to manage a budget better ( make one if you haven’t) and cut off non essentials if you are hit that badly. Since we have no physical control over inflation (only dc does and lol ) budgeting is the best one can do. What also factors in within her case specifically in what states she’s in $120k in Cali/Colorado/NY is like $50k in West Va or elsewhere I’m sure the biases of “wow $120k is a lot for my state” played a lot in the dunking of that women’s vid
I agree with you on the sentiment. Dunking on people doesn't help them. We can't control inflation past the ballot box, and I imagine most of your readers are suffering with what they didn't vote for.
What we can control is our own actions. The USA our of the boomers and the greatest generation is largely gone unfortunately. It's not dead, but it's not thriving. It's the responsibility of each of us to manage our affairs, AND to offer help to those who need it.
Several thoughts...which means a lengthy reply. I'll try and keep it concise though. Also, it may sound like I'm punching down on this girl, but I'll try and maintain an "in general or abstract" tone.
This is a reoccurring, historic issue. If you had the generations, that went through the great depression readily available, you'd hear the same or worse stories. Even when you could by a dozen eggs for 5 cent, people were starving. At the heart of if were corrupt politicians (nothing new) and national and global bankers, that control economies around the world (nothing new again). The lessons learned by previous generations during times of "fat" and then devastating "lean", was no matter how much you earn you better save it, because the crash is just around the corner.
Jaime alluded to this with the Ramsey quote.
Additionally, these generations, did not grow up in homes of plenty...large house, 2 or 3 cars, allowances, huge Christmases, snacks and an ice box full of food (which is the way many middle class kids grew up in the 80's and 90's). So, the expected standard of living was much different right after the depression, You weren't mentally primed to subconsciously think "I'm a grown up now, so the norm is a big house, a couple of cars, never ending food (because it was always that way growing up - few middle class teens understood, food actually cost $$) and disposable income."
The moral of their story is, the next crash is just around the corner...doesn't matter what your parents had or the generations before you...or the reason for the current financial woes, It's a constant that you NEVER will have control over. So, you prepare...again, those depression kids, understood this well.
I will start with this. The economies of the world are being intentionally tanked. When a society is in a state of stress (financial, security, health, social...funny, all those are happening now) it is controllable.
You only have to look at the 1001 things to understand, that they were orchestrated and implemented to bring us to where we are today. As far as the U.S. economy goes...the demonization of fossil fuels and the canonization of the non war-war in Ukraine are the two major drivers, for her spending $70 at Walmart on the things she bought.
On to the tik toker...while she is not the worst I have seen, that video and others is the reason I am not on social media (except substack...is this social media?)
I get that this is the norm, venting to the world...I do it with friends.
And as you said, their budget is their business, until she brings it to the public square...which she did.
Lets re-write the scenario...what if she was complaining that they didn't have money for food and cigs, rec pot, scratch off tickets, weekly mani pedis...you get the idea. Now to some those may be necessities of life, but to others they are needless expenditures. Goes back to preparing for the worst, no matter what the economy looks like.
I have a hard time sympathizing with people who say, we can barely eat, but they're clearly living beyond their means (she said they live paycheck to paycheck), in this F'd up economy. At some point common sense and self preservation, have to win over incredulousness. Again, how they live is none of my business, until they put it out there in a rant.
Lastly, people (especially younger ones...some not all) need to understand that you can't have it both ways.
- Are you all in on the green new steal?...well then you aren't going to have cheap energy and low gas prices. Why, because the regime will do everything it can to make fossil fuels scarce and expensive...to force you to buy into the tribalism and agenda.
- Are you championing a non war-war, that has nothing to do with America...so we can beat the evil putin? Well then your economy will suck, your fiat dollars will become even more worthless, because they are being printed like crazy and YOU will pay that bill...but in the mean time politicians and bankers are raking in gobs of $$.
- Are you all about new tech and digital currency(CBDC) ?? Well then prepare for the gripes in that video, to increase ten fold and it won't be just expensive "approved food" but control of all your spending...which means all your purchases.
Are you in the camp that says, "screw them I won't use it, resist, they can't do that, it won't work"?
Prepare for a very harsh wake up call. It will roll out (the BIS has 11 CBDC project in the works for this) and when it does, there won't be a choice. Your employers, bank, insurance companies, mortgage lenders, local stores, apartment complex, gas station, etc., will all switch over...as soon as they are told to do so. If you think not, ask yourself this...when the regime deems dollars worthless and that fed coins are the only valid/legal currency...if you were a business owner, what would you do. Be honest.
All that, should point back to the "prepare for the crash around the corner" mantra.
You have very little control (especially in the age of election theft/fraud) over the policies of this country.
You have even less control (think none) over the national and global bankers.
What you do have control over (financially) is your spending and savings.
- Pay off your bills...the less you owe, the less they can control you.
- Get rid of items attached to any loan...it's money out the door.
- Get used to driving an older paid off car...I haven't had a car payment in over 20 years and I drive nicer vehicles. If you do ditch that car payment, then save the money you would have paid each month.
- If you use credit cards, pay them in full, do not carry a balance.
- Prioritize. Start asking the hard question (that most people's parents had to ask)...eggs or a mani pedi/eyebrows/hair/cigs/rec pot/vapring/cable/season tickets/etc.? Heat in the house or that awesome dress/shoes/bag at Nordstrom?
So, while I agree with all of you, that some pretty corrupt and F'd up bastards tanked what was a rising economy, this is not new. No, it's not fair, but unless you are on the social programs list for subsidies, you better make some changes.
Last comment. I grew up watching a single mom raise 3 kids and work 3 jobs to do so. She had to make those hard decisions..."school clothes for the kids or a winter jacket for me", movies, vacation, trips or pay the bills? I never knew we were poor...and I don't think we were, but what I learned was that EVERYTZHING cost money and you are one incident away from not making the bills next month. BTW, she was NEVER late or missed paying a bill.
So when I became a "grown up" it was no surprise and I already knew, that the money you bust your ass for all week, then piss away partying all weekend...is the money you may need the following week, to fix your car, pay for a new water heater or buy meds.
That's it, off the soap box.
Be pissed, take what action you can against the regime trying to kill you, but for God's sake, make some changes and prepare for what's just around the corner. I promise you, it will be worse than what you are dealing with now.
Thank you for writing this. On Twitter it's gotten ridiculous how often people aren't willing to look past someone's political leanings, to see the human being that's behind it. They just assume that the human being behind that political leaning, if it's not the same as theirs, isn't someone worth considering or caring about. How mad is that? Until we, as Americans, can get back to the point where it was alright to have differing political views, without losing our compassion for one another, things aren't going to get better, no matter whose policies we vote for.
She is an attractive woman, and hearing her complain may be off-putting to many, as she seems to be fortunate already. Perhaps she takes her blessings for granted? Empathy for such people is in short supply these days.
100% agree. Dunking on low hanging fruit is a sigma hobby that both the left and the right partake in and they try ardently to shame others into this lame activity too. It probably has to do with a general anxiety people have about the way things are going.
My eldest is a high school junior (homeschooled, because, just say no to government indoctrination education camps). When he graduates, I’ll have another kid graduating about every other year for the next 10 years (5 kiddos). I worry about the economy my kids will inherit all. the. time. My husband makes a substantial salary & we live a podunk town in the eastern WV panhandle where the cost of living is pretty low. I recently had to get a part time job because we just can’t afford normal life anymore.
I think normies are starting to wake up & recognize it’s bad policy that got us here. You are totally right — we need to tactfully & graciously have conversations. A gentle word turns away wrath. Unfortunately, at this point, it’ll take many years to recover from this. I suppose my kids should get comfortable with the idea of not launching till they’re 30.
I think it's time we reevaluate the "American dream." It's ok if you have to move in with relatives. It's ok if you can't get that house and have to rent. It's ok if you have to get that second job. Success take all kinds of different forms, and we shouldn't be comparing our stage of life with others. We are all being affected by inflation so let's get creative in how we beat it.
One of Murphy's Laws was, "Expenses always rise to meet income." In practice what that means is that everyone needs a budget of some sort, no matter how rich they are or think they are, if they want to make the best use of their available resources.
Which is a completely different question from another Iron Law, "The government taketh, and the government giveth away." People have no idea how much the government and the banksters and monopolists working in cahoots drive up the costs of just staying alive. The cost increases accumulate over time, until, suddenly, the encrustation begins to sink just about everybody's boat, no matter how diligently they try to budget.
This is a hard one. As a gen xer myself it always seemed like as soon as I advanced in my career the economy would take another turn and put me right back. I remember my parent (the boomers) struggling the same. We forget about 30 percent interest rates, women not getting loans etc etc. Maybe the ww2 generation after the war had it best but I never saw economic ease

Love 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Excellent. I could agree more that we needn’t kick others while they are down. Miss hearing you on Timcast!
